Raleigh Jaycee A Cappella
Founded in January of
2006, Raleigh Jaycee A Cappella: The JayChords
is a volunteer-run contemporary A Cappella group designed for triangle area Jaycee members and their guests (age
21-40). Composed of 21 passionate men and women, the JayChords energetic and
frequently
goofy attitude appeals to any audience, and the message of community
service is certain to warm your heart. The JayChords repertoire spans the
genres of 80’s pop, traditional arrangements, as well as rap and alternative
rock.
Raleigh Jaycee A Cappella depends upon participation not only from
local Jaycee Chapters, but also from the A Cappella community in the triangle area.
Several vocalists from NCSU’s
Wolfgang,
Ladies in Red, and
A Cappology 101, Duke’s
Sapphire and
UNC’s Walk-Ons are among The JayChords founding members. It is currently the
only non-professional contemporary A Cappella option available to adult
vocalists in the
triangle area.
The group’s mission is threefold:
- Provide an opportunity to all participants for individual development in
music and vocal performance – independent of experience
- Raise public awareness about the
Raleigh Jaycees and
provide membership
information at our performances.
-
Conduct fundraising,
volunteer and public awareness activities for local and state
NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill) affiliates.
Oh yeah, they also love to sing and have fun! Give a warm welcome to….The
JayChords!
